Welcome to the website of The Friends of The Wettern Tree Garden.

The Friends have contributed to the maintenance of the beautiful Wettern Tree Gardens since 2004, taking on almost all the gardening since 2020 when the Council became insolvent. We have funded many replacement roses, bulbs, hedges and other plants plus paid for other repairs and work. The Friends also paid for the installation of a park seat in the Tree Garden in memory of Joy Gadsby, the founder of The Friends.

Many of the wonderful specimen trees are listed on the Tree Register, a national listing of champion trees. The Friends applied to the Council for Designation of the Garden as a Local Green Space which would afford protection from development.  The Wettern Tree Garden is one of only 26 open spaces in the Borough of Croydon out of a total of over 100 that is being recommended to the Secretary of State for the Designation.
